Who we are

True Style Jiu-Jitsu and Fitness represents the realization of Jen’s goal to open a school that celebrates her love of jiu-jitsu as a competitive and fighting art, as well as her dedication to helping everyone live a healthier life. An accomplished jiu-jitsu competitor, Jen has made the podium at tournaments local and national, most recently earning gold at No-Gi Pans. A NASM-certified personal trainer, Jen also works with clients to create personalized exercise and nutrition programs. She is proud to be opening the first woman-owned jiu-jitsu academy on Chicago’s North Shore, serving her hometowns of Highland Park & Highwood!

Our Lineage

Team True Style takes pride in our jiu-jitsu origins, and are committed to building on the knowledge and skill our coaches have acquired training with Serafin Jiu-Jitsu in Illinois and Capital MMA in Maryland. True Style founder and owner Jennifer Zanotti-Ferrari is a first-degree black belt under Professor Jeff Serafin, one of the most celebrated coaches and competitors in the Midwest and founder of Serafin-Jiu Jitsu, which is headquartered at Gym 1801 in Evanston, Illinois. Jay is a second-degree black belt, founder and owner of Capital MMA affiliate Team Takoma in Takoma Park, Maryland. He received his black belt from Brazilian jiu jitsu pioneer and UFC champion Royce Gracie.  Jen and Jay are committed to teaching all the aspects of jiu-jitsu that make it the consummate art for competition, fighting, and self defense.

Our Commitment

We’re excited to announce Team True Style’s formal affiliation with Serafin Jiu-Jitsu, which represents the lineage of founder and owner Jennifer Zanotti-Ferrari. Our first school, Team Takoma in Maryland, remains a proud affiliate of Capital MMA through founder and owner Jay Ferrari.

At both schools, we remain committed to giving our students access to every aspect of jiu jitsu, whether it's the foundation of self defense, the challenge of competition, or just getting in shape with a great community. Whatever your goal, it’s all about good vibes, good people, and good training!
